Bird flu outbreak in Saga Prefecture

〇On Nobember 25, chickens in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture, were confirmed to be infected with avian influenza (bird flu).

〇The virus that causes bird flu is not contagious to humans through regular contact, such as being in close proximity with wild birds.

〇Meat and eggs of chickens infected with bird flu will not be distributed into the market.

〇Furthermore, there are no reports of people contracting bird flu through the consumption of the meat or eggs of infected chickens (neither in Japan, nor in other countries).
