The government has decided to declare a quasi-state of emergency in Saga for the first time.

 

The rate of COVID-19 infections has increased rapidly in Saga Prefecture, especially in Karatsu City, where the number of cases per 100,000 people in the last week exceeded that of Tokyo.

 

Due to this dire situation, the government has decided to declare a quasi-state of emergency in Saga Prefecture for the first time. It is expected that Saga Prefecture will announce quasi-emergency measures for Karatsu City today, on August 26th.

 

※Quasi-emergency measures: measures that are meant to prevent rapid spread of COVID-19 in certain areas

・The quasi-state of emergency will go in effect from August 27 (Fri.) until September 12 (Sun.)

 

In order to regain control over the dire situation in Karatsu City and prevent spread throughout the prefecture, all residents of Saga Prefecture should practice preventative measures as much as possible, such as by wearing a mask, disinfecting your hands, and regularly ventilating rooms.
