Report of the 6th Disaster Response Headquarters Meeting
Although the rain has subsided in Saga Prefecture today, it is expected to rain again on the 16th and 17th. Landslides are more likely to occur due to the heavy rain of the past few days, so please stay alert and continue to be vigilant against heavy rain, floods and landslides today as well.
〇 There are 215 evacuation centers currently in operation. 1997 people are evacuating at 129 of those evacuation centers.
〇 To those who have suffered damages, please read these precautions before you start cleaning up your house:
・If you have suffered any damages, make sure to take a picture of any damage to your house or other possessions before you start cleaning up. It will be needed if you wish to claim insurance or get a Disaster Victim Certificate.
・After a disaster, you may be unable to use your home’s electricity or gas. If that is the case, consult with your electric power company or gas company. If your home is damaged, contact your insurance company or the landlord of your apartment before repairing it.
・When cleaning up, wear boots, rubber gloves and a mask to avoid injury. Furthermore, the rules for throwing out your garbage may be different than usual, so make sure to check with the city hall or with your neighbors.
・Be careful of thieves and scams. It is possible that unreliable information may be a hoax, so please refrain from spreading such information on social media and such. If you suspect something is off, be sure to talk to someone.
・If you have lost your residence card or passport, contact the immigration bureau or the embassy of your country.
